As some of you guys probably know, my Facebook account was hacked/compromised and I am unable to regain access to the account. I've now decided to start again with a new page for Filan Forever and Shane Filan Solo. It would mean a lot if you could hit the like button for both pages.

Thanks to everyone who has given the new pages a shout-out, much appreciated.

Westlife don't see each other anymore.

The 'Flying Without Wings' hitmakers went their separate ways in 2012 and Kian Egan says it was important for himself and bandmates Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan to give each other space.

Asked if he still meets up with the rest of the group, Kian said: "Not really. I saw Mark briefly just after Christmas.

"I'm sure the time will come when we'll sit down for a beer together, but right now we need to go off and live our own lives."

It had been speculated that the group will reunite next year, but Kian is "baffled" as to what sparked the rumour because it isn't true.

He told Britain's OK! magazine: "It's completely untrue. It baffles me as to why people make these things up.

"If Westlife ever reunite, we'll tell people, but it's not on the cards."

Despite Kian's comments, his ex-bandmate Brian McFadden - who quit the band in 2004 - has suggested a reunion involving himself could be on the cards.

Asked about rejoining the band in a separate interview with the same publication, he said: "Never say never, but right now it's just a rumour. Rumours like that will be around for a long time."

Every pop band has a shelf life, so it’s no surprise that many stars decide to extend their time in the spotlight by going it alone. It’s a big risk, and one that can end pretty embarrassingly if it flops… but if it goes well, you’re looking at a second crack of the whip that could even out-do the first.

While the back end of the 20th century saw solo breakouts for everyone from George Michael and Donna Summer to Geri Halliwell and Robbie Williams, the 21st has seemingly been a bit quieter in that regard: we’ve had huge, huge hits from the likes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Cheryl Tweedy Cole Fernandez-Versini; while others like Alesha Dixon, Nicole Scherzinger and even Emma Bunton made decent starts but struggled to keep the momentum up.

So what’s the greatest solo debut from an act who’s gone solo since the turn of the millennium? That’s what the below poll will be finding out for the rest of the month: 25 hand-picked individuals, formerly of shiny pop bands, who went it alone with varying degrees of success. The criteria: their first solo offerings as lead artists are the ones that count (that’s why ‘Dilemma’ and ‘What I Am’ aren’t listed for Kelly Rowland and Emma Bunton respectively; plus the latter was in the late 90s anyway). If they dabbled in solodom as a relatively low-profile side-project, as Beyonce did for e.g. a movie soundtrack, those efforts have been ignored in favour of the ‘proper’ solo breakthrough. Exceptions have also been made for Nick Jonas and Nicole Scherzinger, who had damp attempts at solo success before returning to their bands… and then trying again. Oh, and Lea Michele’s in there because you could easily argue for the Glee Cast being a chart-conquering band, right?

Anyway, you can vote for UP TO THREE tracks, and the vote closes at 23:59 on Saturday, February 28.

Filaners, everyone cast your vote for the talented Shane HERE.
